The future begins today: students from the I. P. Shamyakin Mozyr State Pedagogical University held career guidance sessions in various regions

The reach of the Faculty of Philology continues to expand. Meetings with high school seniors were held in several cities across Belarus, initiated by first-year students majoring in “Linguistic Education.” As part of the career guidance project “Faculty of Philology: Time for Professionals,” the first-year students visited schools in their home regions to present the faculty’s educational opportunities to prospective applicants.

At Gymnasium No. 6 in Brest, Karina Domoratskaya introduced the students to in-demand full-time degree programs. The students showed particular interest in the fields of “Modern Foreign Languages,” “Philological Education,” and “Historical Education.” At the same time, in Polotsk, Anastasia Kolach shared her experience of applying to the university and her first impressions of the faculty with students at Secondary School No. 1. Anastasia explained that studying at the university is a modern platform for self-realization, where high-quality knowledge is combined with a vibrant student life.

HEALTHY LIVING WITHOUT ILLUSIONS: A PSYCHOLOGIST AND FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS FROM THE FACULTY OF PRESCHOOL AND ELEMENTARY EDUCATION TAKE ON “SAFE” MYTHS ABOUT E-CIGARETTES

As part of a social partnership initiative in the education system, an unusual meeting took place at the Faculty of Preschool and Primary Education.

The advisory session, dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle, took the form of an active dialogue. First-year students were visited by Viktoria Borisovna Isaenko, a psychologist at the state institution “Mozyr Regional Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology.”

The meeting was not based on boring lectures, but on lively conversation and collaborative activities. Viktoria Borisovna began the discussion with alarming statistics and the psychological aspects of addiction. The speaker paid special attention to a modern threat—the popularity of vapes and e-cigarettes among young people. The students learned why marketing claims about “safe vaping” are a dangerous misconception, and what real consequences this habit has for the respiratory, cardiovascular, and nervous systems.

Chernobyl 40 Years Later: Lessons in Courage at the Faculty of Preschool and Primary Education

On April 26, 1986, the world was divided into “before” and “after.” The Chernobyl disaster—the largest man-made catastrophe of the 20th century—continues to cause pain to this day.

The Faculty of Preschool and Primary Education held a commemorative event marking the 40th anniversary of the tragedy. Students and faculty discussed not only the chronology of events and the heroism of the liquidators, but also the lessons humanity has learned from this catastrophe.

FROM INITIAL HYPOTHESES TO SCIENTIFIC ACHIEVEMENTS

As part of the 33rd International Student Scientific and Practical Conference “From Idea to Innovation,” held on April 17, 2026, at the I.P. Shamyakin Moscow State Pedagogical University, the Department of Technological Education hosted a session titled “Current Issues in Technological and Art Education in the System of General Secondary and Supplementary Education for Children and Youth.” Students from the Faculty of Technology and Biology participated in the session.

Nina Anatolyevna Garulia, Associate Professor of the Department of Technological Education, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. In her remarks, she emphasized the significance of science in the modern world, the importance of utilizing pedagogical potential to facilitate the exchange of experience among young students, and the relevance of involving university graduates in research activities.

Research and Practical Seminar “Active Processes in the Russian Language”

On April 15, 2026, under the guidance of Associate Professor O.V. Sergushkova of the Department of Belarusian and Russian Philology, a research and practical seminar titled “Active Processes in the Russian Language” was held for Group 1 of the fourth-year class. The event took place as part of Youth Science Week. The seminar discussed current trends spanning all levels of the language system—phonetic, lexical, word-formation, and grammatical. O.V. Sergushkova drew the students’ attention to widespread phenomena such as de-terminologization, euphemization, the increasing use of foreign and colloquial vocabulary, slang, abbreviations, and fragmentation, among others. The presentation by Presidential Scholarship recipient Sergey Meshkov, who spoke about creolized text as a phenomenon of modern communication, was particularly useful for the students. All seminar participants were engaged in an interesting and important discussion, which once again reminded us that language is not a static set of rules, but a living, creative process, “an activity of the human spirit.”
