Physical Education Department

On behalf of our department community, and in my name, I wish you a warm welcome to the Physical Education Department. It is known both in Belarus and abroad as a leading division to train highly-qualified coaches and sportsmen. Today tradition combines with innovative teaching techniques that make our campus a stimulating environment offering wealth opportunities. 

In the coming academic year Physical Education Department offers the following range of programs:

Higher Education Programs:

  • Physical Education. Special Training
  • Physical Education. Health Improvement, Tourism and Recreation Activity
  • Sport and Teaching Activity

Master’s Degree Program:

  • Theory and Methods of Physical Education, Athletic training, health-promoting and adaptive physical culture

Today 4 honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Belarus, 21 international masters of sport, more than 40 masters of sport are trained at Physical Education Department. 40 PED student are included into the National teams of the Republic of Belarus. Annually more than 20 students-sportsmen win World and Europe sport championships and contests.

2 Professors, 10 Candidates of Sciences, 8 Associate Professors and 1 Honored coach work at PE Department.

Among the students of the faculty there are: 4 Honoured Masters of Sports of the Republic of Belarus, 21 Masters of sports of the international level, and more than 40 Masters of sports. 40 students of the University are the members of the national teams of the Republic of Belarus. Every year more than 20 students become winners and prize-winners of Championships, European and World Cups.

Due to the experience and professional mastership of their coaches students of the University get leading places in sport activities of the republic. The monitoring of their actions shows that the results of the highest achievements are constantly improving. In 2002 there were 6 Masters of sports of international level, 20 Masters of sports of the Republic of Belarus among the students of the faculty. In 2004 there was 1 Honoured Master of sports, 7 Masters of sports of the international level. 3 students and one graduate took part in the XXVIII Olympic Games in Athens: Roman Petrushenko  (bronze medal)-kayak and canoe paddling, Maria  Brel’  (the 7th place), Stanislav Shcherbachenya  (the 6th place) - boat racing, Mikhail  Bernadskii  (participation)-boxing.

In 2008 1 Honoured Master of sports, 16 masters of sports of the international level graduated from the Faculty of physical education. 5 students and 3 graduates took part in the XXIX Olympic Games in Beijing:

Arthur Litvinchyk  (2 gold medals), Roman Petrushenko  (gold medal)-kayak and canoe paddling, Irina Kylesha  (the 4th place)-weightlifting, Stanislav Shcherbachenya  (the 7th place)-boat racing, Denis Simanovich  (participation),  Ekaterina Poplavskaya (participation, athletics),  Tatyana Fedorovich (participation, kayak and canoe paddling),  Ekaterina Myluk (participation, archery).

We are proud of the fact that 15 students and graduates of the faculty  took part in the XXX Olympic Games in London:

I.Kylesha   (graduated in 2010), Honoured Master of sports in weightlifting, bronze prize-winner of the XXX Olympic Games (weight class up to 75 kilos)

R.Petrushenko   (graduated in 2003), Honoured Master of sports in kayak and canoe paddling, lecturer at the chair of sport disciplines, silver prize-winner of XXX Olympic Games ( oar-kayak, 200 metres)

M.Poltoran    (student, 4th year), Honoured Master of Sports in kayak and canoe paddling, bronze prize-winner of XXX Olympic Games (four oar-kayak, 500 metres)

N.Popok   (student, 4th year), Honoured Master of sports in kayak and canoe paddling, bronze prize-winner of XXX Olympic Games (four oar-kayak, 500 metres)

O.Hudenko   (student, 4th year), Honoured Master of sports in kayak and canoe paddling, bronze prize-winner of XXX Olympic Games (four oar-kayak, 500 metres)
