On the Edge of Traditions and Innovations: In Search of Methodological Truths

The seminar was held in a hybrid format (online/offline) and was moderated by Tamara Pavlovna Likhach, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages and Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, and Natalya Grigoryevna Tochilo, Senior Lecturer of the Chair. A welcoming address was delivered by the Head of the Department of Foreign Languages and Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages, Elena Valeryevna Kovaleva, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, who emphasized the importance of collaboration between higher and secondary education. Third-year students of the Philological Faculty, Elizaveta Marzan and Yulia Trizna, demonstrated their English language skills, after which participants proceeded to the main part of the seminar.

Online reports were presented by colleagues from Russia: Victoria Anatolyevna Goncharova, Associate Professor of the Chair of English Language and Linguodidactics at the Institute of Foreign Languages of Moscow City Pedagogical University, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor (report: "Teaching English as an Exact Science"), and Tatyana Mikhailovna Samokhvalova, English teacher of the highest qualification category at Gymnasium No. 3 named after L.P. Danilina in Korolyov, Moscow Region, Head of the City Methodological Association of English Teachers, Methodologist at the Educational and Methodological Center of Korolyov, Moscow Region (report: "Literary Texts in Teaching English"). The methodological baton then passed to the best teachers of Mozyr and Kalinkovichi: Galina Mikhailovna Kebets, English teacher with the "teacher-methodologist" qualification category at Secondary School No. 14 in Mozyr (report: "Developing Speaking Skills in English Lessons Using Artificial Intelligence Technologies"); Veronika Fedorovna Orlova, English teacher with the "teacher-methodologist" qualification category at Gymnasium named after Y. Kupala in Mozyr (report: "Assessment and Evaluation Activities of a Foreign Language Teacher as a Means of Enhancing Student Motivation"); Natalya Valeryevna Nevmierzhytskaya, English teacher of the highest qualification category, Chair of the Educational and Methodological Association at Secondary School No. 15 in Mozyr named after General E.S. Borodunov (report: "Developing Students' Communicative Competence Through the 'Cluster' Technique of Critical Thinking Development"); Tatyana Ivanovna Zazhazhenko, English teacher of the highest qualification category, Chair of the Educational and Methodological Association of Foreign Language Teachers at Kalinkovichi Gymnasium (report: "Developing Students' Communication Skills Through Project-Based and Theatrical Activities").

The final stage of the seminar featured a presentation by our 2021 graduate, Andrey Dmitrievich Prikhodko, of his original technique "Live Visual," aimed at increasing student motivation in learning English.

Andrey Dmitrievich, an English teacher of the first qualification category at Secondary School No. 14 in Mozyr, is a laureate of the second stage of the republican professional skills competition "Teacher of the Year of the Republic of Belarus 2026" in the "Young Teacher" category.
