PREVENTIVE MEASURES CAMPAIGN: HOW TO PROTECT STUDENTS FROM DOWNTURNS

On November 13, 2018 awareness-raising workshop “Preventive measures campaign: how to protect students from downturns” was conducted at the premises of Center of Ideology, MSPU named after I.P.Shamyakin; focus group: curators of students’ groups.

The main objective of the campaign was to form personal background of curators who would be capable to solve downturn problems of students. Deputy deans for educational affairs, representatives of student social support centers, members of psychoneurologic dispensary and youth liaison service (Mozyr District Office of Internal Affairs) were invited to attend the workshop.

Svetlana Matveeva, Head of Youth Department, introduced the guests to methodology of social and psychological support of international students while teaching. The methodology guidelines were developed by the National Institute of Higher School.

Vyacheslav Kovalenko, Head of the youth liaison service (Mozyr District Office of Internal Affairs), told the audience about administrative violations and punishable offence conducted by under-16s.

Much attention was paid to the tips that would help a teacher to clear up young people in crisis; the lecture devoted to this topic was presented by Natalia Belyaeva, a psychologist, Psychoneurologic Dispensary in Mozyr.

MSPU Social and Support Center conducted a project “What qualities a curator must have”; the main objective of the project was to ask the students about their needs and types of support a curator must have had.

All the participants were provided with handouts and guidelines which could be used in their career.
