ENGLISH TEACHER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

On March 19 – 23, 2018 the 35-hour CiVELT course for ESP university teachers within English for Engagement and Employability – English Teacher Development Programme was conducted at the premises of Minsk State Linguistic University; chief organizers – representatives of British Council in Ukraine.

The following topics were involved into the programme:

1)Key principles of an ESP approach;

2)Language learning in ESP; the role of the ESP learner’s profile and needs analyses; motivation and positive ESP classroom interaction; using learners context as resources

3)Materials in ESP; implications for practice in the ESP classroom.

Working language – English.

DOORS OPEN DAY HELD AT PHILOLOGY DEPARTMENT

On March 25, 2018 Doors open day was held at the premises of Philology Department. Pupils and teachers from Secondary schools of Mozyr got a lucky chance to attend the lectures of the leading philologists of MSPU named after I.P.Shamyakin – Sergey Kurash, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor, Head of the Chair of Belarussian and Russian Studies, and Tatsiana Tatarinova, PhD in Philology, Associate professor. The guests were presented with Activity plan of the Center for Russian Studies and Bachelor Degree Programmes 2018.

On March 21, 2018 Doors open day was held at the premises of MSPU student dormitory No. 3. Valentin Valetov, Rector of MSPU named after I.P.Shamyakin, Deans of the Departments, Heads of MSPU structural units, members of MSPU student government unit gathered together with the aim to cooperate and establish friendly relations. The programme was eventful. All the guests got a lucky chance to get acquainted with various aspects of student life.

On March 24, 2018 Philology department teachers and students participated in the Job Fair held at the premises of Kalinkovichi Secondary School No. 1. Tatsiana Symanovich, Dean of Philology Department, and Irina Kovalevich, Head of Foreign Languages Chair, greeted the pupils, presented general information about bachelor degree programmes 2018 and career perspectives available for students when study at MSPU named after I.P. Shamyakin.

UNIVERSITY SATURDAYS CAMPAIGN HELD AT PHYSICS AND ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

On March 17, 2018 UNIVERSITY SATURDAYS CAMPAIGN was held at the premises of Physics and Engineering department. Gennady Kulak, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor conducted a summarizing lecture on Optics for pupils from Mozyr Secondary Schools No. 5, 6, 10, 12. Experiments on lens focal length, interference pictures got from biprisms of Fresnel and Newton rings, diffraction and optical polarization of light, inner and outer photoeffects were presented to the pupils. Moreover, Professor Kulak lectured on a position of a teacher in the scientific, technical and educational spheres in the Republic of Belarus.
