The monograph is devoted to the investigation of one of the most promising trends in modern radio-ecology and radiobiology – the search for substances with properties to sorb radionuclides. The paper discusses some mechanisms of 137Cs transference from rough feeds into the cattle’s rumen fluid, blood and milk. Proportional relationship between the amount of lignin-containing plants in the ruminants’ daily diet and the decrease of the transition coefficient of radioactive cesium into biological fluids (blood, milk) is marked. The mechanism of the redistribution of 137Cs in the rumen which is associated with desorption of the radionuclides from rough feeds with its further sorption by undigested fiber is defined for gastrofistulated ruminants.
