On May 15 – 18, 2018 educational and awareness-raising project “Week of a Russian word” was held at the premises of MSPU named after I.P.Shamyakin under the auspices of Center for Russian Studies, Russian Embassy in Belarus, Russian Center for Science and Culture, Penza State University and Upper secondary school in Mozyr , Upper Secondary School in Svetlogorsk, Upper secondary school in Kalinkovichi. The Week of a Russian word was devoted to 100-anniversary to Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s birthday.

Tatsiana Symanovich, Dean of Philology Department, greeted the guests and opened the ceremony. She said that the personality of Alexander Solzhenitsyn was extremely important for the Russian history and culture. Literature of Alexander Solzhenitsyn is known as a source of morality, spirituality and patriotism.

Victor Leonidov, PhD in History, Expert in the History of Russian People Abroad Biographies, conducted a performance for MSPU students. He presented the songs and poetry devoted to famous Russian public figures who starred in the movies.

On May 16, 2018 Brain-ring devoted to Biography and Art of Alexander Solzhenitsyn was held at the premises of Philology Department. Teams from Secondary School No. 8 in Mozyr, Upper secondary school in Mozyr, Mozyr State Regional Lyceum and MSPU students participated in the game.

On May 17, 2018 6th Interuniversity Contest in Russian Language among bachelor degree students was held at the premises of Philology Department. There were 2 teams who participated in the contest: Team 1 was represented by the students from MSPU named after I.P.Shamyakin. Team 2 was represented by Francisk Skorina Gomel State University.

The contest was divided into 2 parts. At first, students wrote an essay. Then, they had to do lexical-grammar test and dramatic reading in Russian. Foreign students proved high level of proficiency and mastery of linguistic knowledge.

On May 18, 2018 Quick rhetoric contest was held at the premises of Philology Department. 1st year and 3rd year students participated in the contest. Each presentation was accompanied by power-point presentations and background music. QRC was being conducted in an interesting way and was treated as a useful event either for participants or for the guests.

If to sum up, we can say that the presonality of Alexander Solzhenitsyn has been still treated as ambiguous, bright and at the same time marvelous, because it was he who started a new epoch in literature!
