Echo of Chernobyl: 40 Years Later

Echo of Chernobyl: 40 Years Later

Many springs have passed since then,

The twentieth century has come to an end,

But the chapter is not yet closed:

Tragedy... Chernobyl... Man...

I. Savelyev

The Chernobyl disaster, which occurred on April 26, 1986, is the largest man-made accident in history, leaving an indelible mark on the collective memory.

The memory of the feat of the liquidators, who took the initial impact upon themselves, and of the tragedy affecting the contaminated territories (especially in Belarus) is preserved through memorial events, exhibitions, and books. This serves as a reminder of the fragility of peace and the cost of human error.

Publications about the Chernobyl tragedy can be found at Circulation Desk No. 1 (Room No. 100).

The exhibition will run until May 10.
