Scientific and Methodological Center for Russian Studies: development prospects

On November 30, 2012 the leaders and members of the Belarusian public organization of Russian language and literature (BPORLL) teachers together with the Russian cooperation representative office in the Republic of Belarus held a meeting of the presidium at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Minsk.
The leaders and employees of the Centers for Russian Studies from various regional and district centers in the Republic of Belarus, the Russian language teachers participated in the meeting. MSPU named after Shamyakin was represented at this important educational, cultural and political event by Head of the Department of Russian Language Sergey Borisovich Kurash.
The focus of the meeting was on summarizing the work in 2011-2012. In particular, President of BPORLL - Dean of the Faculty of Philology in BSU Professor I.S. Rovdo praised the level and intensity of the interaction of specialists in Russian philology with the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Minsk.
His words were confirmed by the reports of the participators of the meeting, talking about its work, noting that with the opening of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Minsk in November 2010 Belarusian philologists have real support.
In gratitude for the contribution to the studies, preservation and development of the Russian language, meeting the linguistic needs of the Russian compatriots the Head of representative office S.N. Kovalyova presented letters of appreciation signed by the Head of the Office, V.A. Malashenko to the staff of Russian studies centers, which operate in the leading universities of the Republic of Belarus. The Center for Russian Studies of MSPU was also awarded with such a high appreciation.
In addition, under the Russian federal program "The Russian Language" in 2011-2015 a set of scientific-methodical and educational literature and thematic multimedia publications in the Russian language, literature, history, culture, and education (222 items) was transferred as a gift to the Center for Russian Studies of the University. These books and CDs in the nearest future will be available to students and tutors of the university, and, without doubt, will help to improve the quality of teaching and research processes in the mentioned areas.
Svetlana Kovaleva reported about the work in strengthening the position of the Russian language in Belarus done by the team of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Minsk. In all the events Belarusian specialists in Russian philology were both co-organizers and direct participants. It was emphasized equally productive relationship had been developed with all the centers of Russian studies, which enabled a number of significant events (competitions, meetings, conferences, seminars, literary performances, etc.).
At the end of the meeting it was agreed to continue the interaction of the Russian cooperation representative office and Belarusian specialists in the Russian language. Joint activities with the organization are as well planned by the Center for Russian Studies of MSPU named after I.P. Shamyakin.
