CANNOT BE FORGOTTEN, CANNOT BE UNDERSTOOD, CANNOT BE JUSTIFIED

CANNOT BE FORGOTTEN, CANNOT BE UNDERSTOOD, CANNOT BE JUSTIFIED

People's Unity Day is a holiday prompted by life itself. With its deep historical significance, it is at the same time filled with important meanings of today and turned to the future.

The brotherly peoples paid a dear price for the Great Victory - the population of the country was reduced by three million. As a result of the policy of genocide, the Nazi occupants killed hundreds of thousands of civilians: Belarusians, Jews, Russians.

Our peoples have always helped each other in times of need. We have defended freedom and independence together, fought against external enemies shoulder to shoulder, worked hand in hand for the well-being and prosperity of our peoples.

The Day of People's Unity first of all symbolises the national, state and territorial integrity of Belarus, emphasises the weighty historical foundation of the modern statehood. It is a symbol of the historical formation of the Belarusian nation, the sincere aspiration of Belarusians to live as one family in their own home and to continue building a joint future.
